The YouthHack CALABARZON Startup Challenge is a two-day event with the goal of helping students learn more about technology and entrepreneurship. We will be having various talks and workshops on ideation, growth hacking and marketing to aid teams formulate their ideas. On the second day, teams will be able to pitch to a panel of judges. We highly encourage students to register for this event in teams of up to 5 members.

The registration fee is P400 inclusive of the delegate kit, lunch for both days, and transportation from our pick-up point to the venue proper. The deadline for registration is on August 14, 2016, 11:59 PM. If you decide to pay on the day itself, it will be P450 per person.

  • Who can enter the YouthHack CALABARZON Startup Challenge?

    The YouthHack Manila Startup Challenge is open to both high school and university students in the Philippines. You don’t need any prior knowledge about startups, technology and entrepreneurship! All you need is the willingness to learn and try something new.

  • Is there a minimum or maximum number of team members?

    In order to compete in the YouthHack Startup Challenge, you must have a minimum of 4 team members and a maximum of 5 team members.

  • What type of ideas can I pitch?

    We do not discriminate on ideas. As long as your idea is solving a problem in society or as long as you can prove that it can become a viable business, it’s fair game. In fact, we’re open to ideas that go beyond the usual web or mobile applications! We hope to see innovations in retail, fashion, energy, education, environment and more! Keep those juices flowing! We look forward to seeing your ideas!

  • I have a startup already, can I still enter?

    Yes! But there are a few restrictions. Your startup must not be making over P1M in revenue and you cannot be operating for more than 6 months by the time of the event. Participants must not be an incorporated entity as well nor have undergone any round of external funding.

  • Do I have to create a prototype of my product already?

    Not necessarily. However, we strongly encourage that you prepare as much as possible. Be creative. It would be great to see an MVP, landing page, social media traction, etc. Having these would increase your chances of winning the YouthHack CALABARZON Startup Challenge.

  • I don’t have a team but can I still enter?

    Yes, you can register individually and the core team will match you with other individuals during day 1 so you can participate in the pitch.

  • What will I get out of going to the YouthHack Startup Challenge?

    You will get to learn from experienced entrepreneurs through our keynote speakers and workshops. You will be able to get feedback on your startup idea through our mentoring sessions, and meet like-minded individuals through our networking sessions.

  • What if I don’t have any idea?

    It’s okay not to come in with an idea but for those who want to win big, we highly recommend that you start preparing your idea as early as possible.

  • What is the best way to prepare for the YouthHack Startup Challenge?

    The best way to prepare for the Startup Challenge is to start brainstorming for your startup idea, start asking people if they’d buy your product, start developing a landing page and thinking about the different factors that will come into play if you do decide to start your startup.
